Georg Jung - Gavarnie (1924)

Aged only 25 at the time Jung was one year away from having his breakthrough solo exhibition in Munich when this image was created.  Gavarnie captures the stunning beauty of the Pyrenees mountains in the South of France. This expressionist landscapes showcased Jung's natural talent and curiosity for colour, as a largely self-taught artist who would only go on to join Hagenbund the following year.
